Interesting Things About
Anguilla

Anguilla is the Caribbean's finest exercise in understatement — a flat, low-lying island of 35 square miles with no mountains and no rainforest, but with beaches that are consistently ranked among the finest on earth and a hospitality culture that operates at an exceptionally high level of quiet luxury. For Complete Concierge clients, Anguilla is the answer when the Caribbean should feel genuinely private, genuinely beautiful, and completely removed from the noise of more commercial destinations.

The Beaches

Shoal Bay East

Consistently rated among the world's finest beaches — a long arc of powdered white sand and extraordinary turquoise water that manages to feel unspoiled despite its reputation. The snorkelling directly off the beach is excellent. Elodio's restaurant at the far end of Shoal Bay is a beloved Anguillian institution.

Meads Bay

Home to Anguilla's finest resort hotels, including Belmond Cap Juluca, Zemi Beach House, and the Frangipani Beach Resort. Meads Bay's calm, clear water and proximity to excellent dining makes it the preferred beach for first-time visitors and those staying in the hotel corridor.

Barnes Bay & Maundays Bay

Barnes Bay is home to Viceroy Anguilla, a sprawling resort with exceptional ocean views. Maundays Bay is the location of Cap Juluca — a collection of Moorish-inspired white domed villas along one of Anguilla's most beautiful stretches of beach.

Where to Stay

Belmond Cap Juluca

The island's most iconic property — a series of white domed villas along Maundays Bay with direct beach access, exceptional food and beverage, and a design aesthetic that is unmistakably Anguillian. Cap Juluca is the benchmark for Anguilla accommodation and books out early for peak season.

Malliouhana

A clifftop property above Meads Bay with dramatic sea views, an Auberge Resorts flag, and the island's most serious wine cellar. Malliouhana is more intimate than Cap Juluca and preferred by clients seeking a quieter, more secluded experience.

Private Villas

The Anguilla private villa market is exceptional — a collection of high-specification properties with direct beach or ocean access, full staff, and the kind of privacy that the island's low-profile character facilitates. Complete Concierge works with the finest villa properties on the island.

Getting There

Clayton J. Lloyd International Airport (AXA) handles turboprop and smaller aircraft arrivals. Most Complete Concierge clients fly by private jet to Princess Juliana International (SXM) on nearby St. Maarten and connect by ferry (20 minutes) or private boat to Anguilla. The ferry crossing is fast and the scenery is excellent.

When to Go

December through April is the peak season — the finest weather, the best restaurant and resort operation, and the highest concentration of the international clientele that Anguilla attracts. The shoulder months of November and May offer excellent conditions with more availability. Summer and early autumn bring heat, humidity, and hurricane risk, though Anguilla's location on the northern edge of the Lesser Antilles gives it some protection.

What Complete Concierge Handles

Complete Concierge arranges private jet charter to SXM with onward ferry or private boat transfer to Anguilla, villa and hotel accommodations, restaurant reservations across the island, private yacht and boat charters, and any personal requests throughout your stay.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I get from St. Maarten to Anguilla?

The public ferry from Marigot (French side) to Blowing Point (Anguilla) takes approximately 20 minutes and runs frequently. A private water taxi or boat charter is also available and offers a more direct, flexible connection. Complete Concierge coordinates both options as part of your arrival transfer.

What makes Anguilla different from other Caribbean islands?

Anguilla's distinction is its commitment to quiet luxury — there are no casinos, no cruise ships, and no mass-market resort development. The island's 35 restaurants serve some of the finest food in the Caribbean. The beaches are genuinely extraordinary. The experience is for clients who want to be genuinely away, at a level of quality that most Caribbean destinations can't match.
